About Itoh Kyuemon
Founded in 1832 during the Edo period, Itoh Kyuemon is a prestigious tea shop in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. Known for its premium Uji tea, the brand combines centuries-old traditions with exceptional craftsmanship to deliver the finest teas.
Partnering with renowned tea farmers in Uji Shirakawa and Ujitawara, Itoh Kyuemon ensures its teas are made from hand-picked first-flush leaves, preserving the highest quality. These leaves are processed the same day to maintain their freshness and transformed into raw materials for Sencha, Gyokuro, and Matcha.
Tenjo is the second-highest grade in Itohkyuemon’s matcha lineup, offering a refined flavor without the harsh bitterness often found in lower grades. Enjoy its smooth, creamy taste whether you’re savoring it in a traditional tea ceremony, mixing it into a latte or smoothie, or exploring creative desserts.
Storage Tips:
Matcha is super delicate, and should be stored airtight in cool, dry place and away from light to keep optimal freshness. We kindly ask you not to store in transparent containers.
Opened matcha should be used within 1 month. Unopened matcha can be kept in the fridge for 6 months. Anything beyond that time frame risks matcha deterioration in quality and taste.
